What does 我是云南的 mean?

The phrase comes from a self-introduction that walks down the map level by level: province, prefecture, county, town, ethnic group, all in one breath and on a fixed beat, with a hair swing between lines. The format became a template in 2022, when anyone with a phone could fill in their own place names, so within weeks the internet contained hundreds of versions, from county towns to overseas communities, and the tag turned into a collective roll call of hometown pride. The chant loops the way 我在东北玩泥巴 does, and it carries the loud self-cheering energy of 奥利给.

Where does 我是云南的 come from?

In the spring of 2022, a video of 蔡金发, a Lisu man from Liuku in Nujiang, chanted his address chain while swinging his long hair, spread from Douyin to the rest of the internet. By May the story had gone national, with China Newsweek interviewing him on May 30, 2022, and imitations multiplied as every province and even foreign cities made their own version. The audio track had circulated earlier among Lisu creators, so authorship was occasionally contested, but what the spring of 2022 fixed was the format.

  Shì yǒu lù le yī duàn wǒ shì Yún nán de, tóu fa yī shuǎi, quán sù shè xiào dào fàn dōu liáng le.
